Birch & Rye is a 2023 James Beard Awards Semifinalist for Best New Restaurant and currently the only Russian restaurant in North America to be featured on the Michelin guide.
Chef Anya El-Wattar reimagines Russian and eastern European dishes from her childhood through a contemporary California lens. Drawing upon traditions of foraging and fermenting, and recognized for her inclusive mission and bright fare, Chef Anya was honored as Eater SF's Chef of the Year in 2022
Birch and Rye's winter menus include Chef Anya's five course tasting and vegan tasting meal, a la carte dinner menu and Sunday brunch. The restaurant also serves an excellent private label caviar service, and a standout beverage program, featuring house-infused vodkas and curated eastern European wines.
