A Russian-born émigré and a decades-long San Francisco resident, Anya believes there is no better way to connect with the community than through lively conversation and creatively imagined food. Anya received formal training at the Natural Gourmet Institute in New York City. Conceived in the spirit of peace, Birch & Rye, under Anya’s direction, has harnessed its influence to support Ukraine. In conjunction with Dominique Crenn, she hosted a recent fundraiser raising more than $100,000 for the World Central Kitchen’s efforts in and around Ukraine, with plans for additional fundraising in the near future. Anya’s work at the restaurant is guided by the words of wisdom, “Love everyone, feed everyone.”
